What is JiE?
JiE is a social networking lifestyle cost-benefit analysis calculator application. JiE allows users to input data, such as income and/or time spent on an activity, in order to determine the percentage of money and/or time that is required for a particular product, service, or activity.

- Users create posts to compare costs of products, services, recreational activities, etc. and ask friends, family, the world, and, most importantly, themselves “Is it worth it?”

- Users create two type of posts-- Monetary Analysis and/or Time Analysis

- Monetary Analysis: Users input salary/money in hand and the costs of goods/service.

- Time Analysis: Users input time expended on an activity. JiE calculates percentage of time spent on that activity in relation to the users hour, day, week, or year.

-- Note: Salary information is optional. Users may choose to simply display the prices and names of good/service in their posts. Analyses may be posted publicly, within select groups, or privately.

Examples:

- Example 1:
I want to watch a new movie. The movie costs $8. I input my annual salary ($40,000) or the amount of cash I have in hand ($10). I create a post showing that this movie costs 0.02% of my salary or 80% of my cash in hand. Other users may vote whether or not they think the movie is worth the monetary cost and leave comments to express their opinions.

- Example 2:

I discover that the movie is 3 hours long. I create a post to show that this movie will cost me 12.5% of my day. Users may vote whether or not they think the movie is worth the time cost and leave comments to express their opinions.
